The Bigger Picture – Lil Baby

With all of the 2020 events that happened this year one that stood out to me the most were George Floyd’s death and the Black Lives Matter protests. That was an eye-opener for everyone in the United States. Those racial incidents have been happening for so long now. Now everyone is speaking out and protesting against that injustice. Even sports teams have made their positions clear and are speaking out about it.

The song “The Bigger Picture” by Lil Baby was first aired to all radio stations and all music platforms in June 2020. The song reached over 111 million views and plays. And was awarded the BET Hip Hop Award for best impact track, and a Grammy award for rap performance. The song was a hit and had a huge impact on the listeners.

When first listening to this song i knew from the jump it was going to be good. The song starts off with these lines: “It’s bigger than black and white its a problem with the whole way of life it can’t change overnight but we gotta start somewhere.“ When Lil Baby says that, he means that for so long it has been happening, and it’s been a part of life since way back then, but we have to start speaking out on it, and change can’t just happen in a day.

This song has inspired not just me, but other musical artists to start making music about it, and that made a positive impact in the young African-American lives.

I would recommend this song to anyone who was touched by all the Black Lives Matter protests because it has so much positivity and has become one of my favorite songs of 2020.
